Default Motorola Canopy Towers getting an upgrade?

I called a local dealer to inquire when my tower would be upgraded.

He told me that Motorola Canopy towers would be "upgraded in the new year".

He didn't know if they would be upgraded to 4G or the new LTE equipment.

Has anyone else heard this? I really hope it is true, I can't put up with the slow speeds much longer.

Xplornet has their long term plan to upgrade all towers by into 2017. Should be LTE.

That is great news. I used to get service from a giant 900' tower in direct line of sight 2km away from me, multiple fiber lines running to it, and i got the original canopy service from that. But unfortunately they didn't provide 4G WiMaX from that tower, so now i'm getting service from a much further tower, which isn't fiber fed, Latency and jitter with 4G has been much higher than the old canopy system. Now if Xplornet would only provide higher monthly bandiwdth caps.

The unlimited bandwidth cap I get on the Canopy service is one of the reasons keeping me from switching to 4G. Also the 4G tower is much further away, I'm not sure I could actually get service from it.
