Default Average speeds?

Hey I was just wondering what speeds average out around for you guys? I have the 2nd plan (59.99 one) and my download speeds average 74 KBPS which is stupid low. But I'm also in this 3 yr contract, so what are your guys speeds at, around average?

Do you know what kind of service you have - Satellite or Terrestrial wireless?

I am on the new Echostar XVII hughesnet satellite - I hit my 4-5 Mpbs of my promised 5Mpbsat all times right now. As the service gets deployed to more and more houses, it remains to be seen how I will do in the future.

Over cast skies with on and off rain currently and my speeds are:

:::.. Download Speed Test Results ..:::
Download Connection Speed:: 4361 Kbps or 4.4 Mbps
Download Speed Test Size:: 6.2 MB or 6336 kB or 6488064 bytes

Which satellite?

Original(2005): Telesat Anik f2(blue modem?) (3 beams on anik f3)

Slightly newer(2007?): Hughesnet spaceway 3(HN9000 Modem).

ViaSat1(2011)new: ViaSat company bought WildBlue and may still have a partial ownership by Telesat(Black modem?). Beams are set to higher population areas.

Hughesnet EchoStar17(2012)newest(hn1000 modem?): beams set to higher population areas.

old(about a dozen general service satellites): leased to Hughesnet, KU band satellites(hn7000 modem).

The Anik F2 may be scheduled for replacement in about 2020-2023. Plus there are plans for a ViaSat2 and Hughesnet secondary to EchoStar17. They would be used as in use backups in case of failures.

By the way:

KBps = kilo Bytes per second.

Kbps = kilo bits per second.

A Byte(big B) is 8 times a bit(small b). 100Kbps is dead slow on satellite and will be like dialup. 800Kbps(100KBps) will be not be too bad.

1Mbps = 1000Kbps.
