Default Echostar XVII installed

So far so good. Speeds are fantastic and consistent. I understand peak hours may bring slow downs in the future, but today it is working very well.

Tried Google Voice and Skype video - both work excellent

Starcraft 2 I can play with no noticeable lag

Twitch style games suffer from the 650ms lag, no getting around that.

Can stream Netflix with no buffering. Youtube HD works flawlessly.

I cannot complain at this time for the service I receive.

Thanks for posting the updates. It's useful to know what the alternatives are, and how well they really work.

2 Months later and its still hitting 5Mpbs 90% of the time.

Only issue so far is a weird one. I had been using a Zyxel USG20 as my router, with two no name RT3052 access points running (secure with WPA2, AES). In this configuration the hughes modem constantly went into a web acceleration back off error state - witch made browsing unusable. It went on for two weeks. Once I removed the router and replaced it with one of my two access points (put the access point into router mode) it returned to normal. I cannot explain why the Zyxel caused the hughes modem to enter this state, it makes no sense to me. But all is well now:

Tonight is clear

Default Probem

Hey Dave, your issue might have been a power failure and when the modem and roiter both power on at the same time, this kind of problem might have happened. WattBoxIp is worth a look, very intereting products. Happy sailing!

I had moved my plan to the 10Mpbs, and seem to be getting decent speeds. To be honest I am likely going to downgrade to 5Mpbs as I simply do not see the need for more for what I do
