Default Echostar17 pre-pricing

Whats all this mean? Oh the standard output of more customer money to upgrade to new technology(new install. new contract, unless paying for unsubsidized no contract install).
If a residential user can get the business packages, at least you get a decent bandwidth allowance, which is 60GB's to 100GB's(5Mbps down for 100GB's at $95+), instead of 10GB's to 30GB's(5Mbps down for 30GB's at $60+).
Pricing shows the monthly payments for the first 12 months, then increase based on speed tier(from $0 to $45).

The company says the difference in pricing can be dramatic depending on where a customer lives and his or her current service. For instance, among its various 4G packages, the company plans to offer a three Mbps package for $50 per month, Mr. Maduri said. That compares to a two Mbps plan for $174.99 on one of its older satellites.
Specifically, EchoStar XVII will enable Xplornet to add more 4G coverage in British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and New Brunswick, while bolstering capacity in Ontario and Quebec. It plans to begin marketing its 4G satellite service to customers in those new markets in November.

Woodstock, N.B.-based Xplornet had about 150,000 subscribers across Canada at the end of 2011 and annual revenues of more than $100-million. It aims to quadruple its customer base by 2016.
High-speed Internet access is now considered integral to Canada’s economic development, and the federal telecom regulator has established a “national speed target” to ensure that all Canadians have download speeds of at least five megabits per second (Mbps) by 2015. It is a standard still not available to roughly 12 per cent of Canadians....

Xplornets satellite traffic management policy for the 4th generation satellites(Viasat1/Echostar17).

Don't forget that the satellites have a 600ms minimum ping time. Any program or service that requires a quick ping time(100ms or less) will lag or not work as per specifications.

About 3 to 4 years for the next satellites to be launched to act as backups for Viasat1/Echostar17. Possibly to have full North America coverage, instead of just the higher population areas(next satellites to possibly act as long term replacements for the AnikF2/F3/Spaceway3, which would still be in use till end of life).

Some more information plus what looks like a pre-release of the new pricing and package speeds coming in November 2012(attached, plus link also).

I will likely sign up for the Mid tier business plan. 80GB cap is roughly 40% higher then my current usage. The high ping times of 600ms would be better then what I get now (reaching into 2000+ms during peak times). Right now, at 11:13pm AST my latency is not as bad as a few hours ago:

Pinging google.ca [] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from bytes=32 time=733ms TTL=53
Reply from bytes=32 time=1770ms TTL=53
Reply from bytes=32 time=570ms TTL=53
Reply from bytes=32 time=472ms TTL=53

My Speedtest:

:::.. Combined Test Results ..:::
Download Connection:: 400 Kbps or 0.4 Mbps
Download Test Size:: 0.3 MB or 307 kB or 314573 bytes
Download Speed:: 50 kB/s
Upload Connection:: 267 Kbps or 0.3 Mbps
Upload Test Size:: 265 kB or 265 kB or 271755 bytes
Upload Speed:: 33 kB/s
Tested At:: http://TestMy.net version:12
Test Time:: 2012-07-08 02:12:32 Local Time
Validation:: http://testmy.net/db/SYwItxQ.YZq0Nxi
User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/536.11

I am on a 1.5Mpbs package with no monthly caps at the moment. Its useless however, since I cannot even stream Sirius on my computer until after peak usage is over.
