1Mbps down, and a 75/100Gb limit, is beyond retarded.

Indeed the cap is crap. Still, I would like to check this new Tech out. Sadly, I have no idea when Shannonville will get this tech. I've tried to reach out to Xplornet and No one has answers as usual.

I use anywhere between 5-10gb (week day) and 20-40gb (Weekend) per day. 100gb limit would kill me I am glad to be rid of these guys. I feel bad for those stuck on this crap.

Some informative posts by both dotslash and tinytim.

For those interested in the cost of deploying PRI's in a medium size business I have a recent quote. (I can tell you using SIP trunks over Dedicated Ethernet is much cheaper in the long run! For smaller business using SIp trunking over Cable or Fibre could work as well, but typically do not get SLA's with that type of service. PRI's are old school IMO )

LINES:
PRI
Term: 3 years
Rate: $400ish plus $10ish per channel
DIDís, rate of $1.30ish per
Long distance at 3 cents a minute

I rounded off some numbers to clean the data

Default 175GB Cap?

Just saw this on their web site:

http://www.xplornet.com/xtreme-fixed...ural-internet/

"You can top-up your data to a whopping 175 GB/month!"

Anyone know anything about this?

Ok so here is the jist of the response I got:

It would be the Xtreme10 plan, speeds up to 10Mbps Down/1Mbps Up, 175GB included at a monthly rate of $84.99.

Overages $2 per GB or you can request a limited state plan that would reduce speeds once the limit is reached, if you're concerned about additional costs.

The 175GB allowance is currently only available on the Xtreme10 plan but we are aware of customer requesting the higher bandwidth allowance on the Xtreme5 plan. I'll forward your feedback for review. Thanks ^NS

I'll call tomorrow to make my case for getting the extra bandwidth on the Xtreme 5 plan. Will follow up here.

Ok so called Xplornet today.

The new codes are working and here is the breakdown.

All offerings of bandwidth above 100GB are on 10mb plans only right now.

10MB/down 1MB/up 125GB Cap = $74.99/month
10MB/down 1MB/up 150GB Cap = $79.99/month
10MB/down 1MB/up 175GB Cap = $84.99/month

Remember that they also allow you to go to 120% of your usage limit before either charging overage or putting you into limited state. So the plans actually include 20% more bandwidth then is listed above!!!

So its a $5 increase for each 25GB you add one. These are definite improvements over the crazy numbers from past years. I upgraded to the 74.99 plan and its working great!

Damn... I need to call them, I want the extra 75GB package but I'm already paying like 35$ more a month than I should be since I switched before these packages came out.
