Default rural internet large caps for BC, AB

BC and AB only

Telus has new cellular internet plan for rural people who can't get anything but shitty over-subscribed wireless internet.
This is fixed internet, constrained to a specific location, and not regular mobile internet plans with much lower caps.

Smart Hub on the Telus LTE network.
This initial pricing may be subject to change at end of 2016.
50 GB monthly for $60 per month
250 GB monthly for $75 per month
500 GB monthly for $110 per month

Many comments.

Cellular usually has carrier grade NAT (like Xplornet's standard offering) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT

Thanks for posting. The comments on the RFD forum are interesting. People think this is part of Telus's plan to use excess LTE capacity on its rural towers. I often wondered why Rogers and Bell don't do the same. I have a Rogers LTE tower less than a kilometre from my house but I can't use it due to the small cap on my cell plan. I can't imagine much of that tower's capacity is ever used.

Here's hoping this is a pilot project for Telus that preludes a nationwide rollout. Xplornet could use some competition.

I got the Smart hub before Christmas...75.00$ for 250 GB.

Best internet ever..my speeds are usually 50 Mbps down and 40 up.

My best speed so far..

I had the "sucky" service for years, you could not even watch YouTube during peak hours , even on the lowest video setting.

Now I can download a 700 MB movie in about 10 minutes, any time of day, absolutely no throttling..!

Best part is, you get to cancel Xplornet, and really tell them how you feel, when they ask you, "Why do you want to cancel?"

Talked to the installer who is coming to get the Xplornet antenna, says they have a backlog of uninstalls..

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of Xplornet..
