Really, it is better to just ignore using ISP email as your primary email and get your own Gmail(or other) email address that can be used on any ISP.
Keep the Xplornet email address for communicating to/from Xplornet.
Users on the Xplornet Facebook page would like more bandwidth instead, but no competition to go to, so heres a new email server instead.
Looking like Xplornet is dumping Gmail as a provider.
Q: Will my email address change?
A: No, your email address will remain the same.
Google Email Upgrade FAQ
Starting on February 17, 2015, Xplornet will start to securely upgrade all @xplornet.ca email accounts to our new email platform and server. This process could take Xplornet up to two weeks. Your particular inbox does not have a set upgrade time or date.
Q: What does this mean for me?
A: The email service upgrade will provide you with many new webmail features, including:
A calendar in webmail: The most requested feature by our webmail users! We're already working on future improvements so that you can sync this calendar with your mobile device.
Cloud storage for files: A simple way to manage your files and have access to them anywhere. Share, password-protect and set an expiry date for your shared links.
RSS feed: Keep up to date on topics that interest you with a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed right in your Webmail. Have the news come to you!
Q: Will I need to do anything prior to or after the upgrade?
A: Leading up to February 17, 2015, Xplornet will send you 3 emails with information, reminders and any actions you will need to take to help make this upgrade as seamless as possible. This information will include new server settings for your third party email programs as well as details to help you log in to your new webmail inbox.
Plus getting a new password that you then change to a new one.
