Default Xplornetsucks Hacked by xplornet payed hacker?

When I used to write xplornet 4g in google before xplornetsucks was hacked xplornetsucks.com was the top link. It benefited xplornet that xplornetsucks went down for the length of time that it did because now its on a few pages later in the search. This is unfortunate for rural users because they cant see how crappy xplornet is. I want to write xplornet 4g in google again and see xplornetsucks come up first link :<. Yeah I realize this is just speculation but it really seems weird that anyone would want to hack this site for any other reason.

I don't think this site was specifically targeted. I've had a few sites hacked. Most often it's an "opportunistic" hack -- a site is using software that has an unpatched vulnerability, and a "script kiddie" discovers that fact and runs a canned script to compromise the site's security. Here, for example, is just one list of security advisories for vBulletin 3.x (what this site runs).

Many of the attacks are now automated, and use Google to find vulnerable sites. It's not easy being a webmaster.
