FireFox Browser.
Free. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ There is also Add-Ons for further functionality. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox You can have multiple browsers installed. One will be set as the default browser. Backup utility.. http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ Adding an update:::: FireFox help Forum. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38 But people get confused and think that just by using FireFox that they can not get infected... Well if you are not careful and download junk, you may get infected. FireFox is more secure than Internet Explorer, but if your system gets infected, then the virus is going to try and get out via the default browser. KA users suffering from painfully slow loading of ad-heavy web pages might consider using the Adblock Plus add-on for the Firefox browser:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 (watch the basic instruction video first) It only works with Firefox, but it does seem to work. Here's a comparison speed test for full loading of a notoriously slow home page (www.nytimes.com) using three common browsers: IE 8: 44 seconds Google Chrome: 40 seconds Firefox 3 (with add-on): 17 seconds Not a magic bullet for all web pages, but a potentially useful remedy for Xplornet frustration... |
